This is the panel — that fielded some very tough questions. Some people showed up at the Art Gallery just before the panel started which is cool.
A quick background on the other panel members:
- Patrick Di Justo – Author of the book “The Science of Battelestar Galactica“, which will hopefully be published this November 2009. Also a contributing editor for Wired Magazine.
- Ajay Chaudhary – Teacher of philosophy and religion at Columbia University.
- John Brooks – How has no other life other than BSG and other things.
I can remember most of the questions, but I am only going to point out three of the many questions we had.
- Patrick – How does the FTL drive work?
- Shane – What does it take to run the Battlestar Wiki and the scope behind the madness?
- Ajay – What of the end of Daybreak, Part II does it all mean?
Patrick
Under his contract obligation with NBC-Universal studios, he was not allowed to disclose the details until — you guessed it — the book is out. So for those wanting the real reason, you will have to wait for his book or for the Battlestar Wiki version for now.
Shane
Basically- Lots and lots of hours of typing code and keeping the servers running at peek performance. I gave most credit to our contributing users since they do most of the building. Myself and Joe just give them the resources and tools needed.
Ajay
This question was fielded by Ajay, but it was answered by all of us.
In my humble option after reading everything, I came up with the conclusion that the entire series was just a “story” that Head Six and Head Baltar talked up and thought of and that’s why they were able to go “inside” the minds of the other characters.

Hey Shane, great blog recap of the night. It was a great time, you and the rest of the panel were very enlightening and engaging especially for a crowd that seemed very happy to get back into talking Battlestar Galactica. The withdrawal is very very difficult! I didn’t get a chance to thank the entire panel, so just wanted to thank you for the time you and Justin, John and Ajay gave to all of us. Looking forward to the Nerd nite in Manhattan. (although when looking that up I only saw a listing for NYC being in Brooklyn on Sept. 18th, since I can’t find any disambiguation for Manhattan nerd nite I hope you will keep us posted.)
Also, the girl that did the “Frak, what’s my Line” with John and Laura Lee was named Sabrina (I believe) I remember all the people who liked Unfinished Business!!
Bailey aka IrishEDP on twitter & the Battlestar Wiki forum.
PS for all the BSG lovers out there who missed this event, it was really a great, fun time and I hope you can make the next one. there can NEVER be too much Battlestar!
