Surrogates is BSG-Like

Posted by Shane

I saw Surrogates at the movies a few nights ago and this movie theme is very much like Battlestar Galactica where robots are the principal focus and that the human race now depends on their survival to be able to operate. There is a faction that is against the ‘robots’ and the movie centers around a weapon that can defeat the surrogate machines.

I recently got and saw this movie. It’s an animated movie featuring around of course the Green Lantern, Hal Jordon. Just like it’s two counterparts, Batman: Gotham Knights and Wonder Women two other animated features by DC comics, this one was just as good as the other two.

All three movies have the ‘real’ cartoon look with many of the cartoon enhancements that Justice League Unlimited had in the ending of the series. The character animation was superb. Without realizing that I never posted a review on the Wonder Women animated film, going to do them both right now.

I watched G.I. Joe last night. I liked it a lot, but the film could have used better acting. A lot of the lines were cookie cut from the comics which are good for comics. Not movies since they are supposed to be free-following dialog between the characters.

Dennis Quad, who plays General Hawk, lines where very “stale” and had no “meaning” to them. Other than that the movie was good. The cinematography seems like it was also not fluid. Now like every comic movie, the movie did set it self up for more squeals, but the overall film could have been done better.

Oh yeah. The women in this movie were just HOT! Rachel Nichols and Sienna Miller can come haunt me anytime. :)

Benjamin Button is another movie I just watched. After bashing the movie on the Battlestar Forum and since my sister had to watch it for a class, I watched it at the same time. The first movie that I thought of that compares to this is Big Fish. Where the son of a dying old man tells his story of his adventures as the movies flashes back to his life on his adventures.

So what compares with this on is that Brad Pitt character goes from older in a young mans body to and old person in a young body while the girl he met is on her death bed with her grand daughter. The girl in the death bed is played by her “younger” self in the flashbacks. The movie explorers the dynamics between how people view people at an old age vs. young age.

I truly doubted the movies characteristics. This movie was really good. Very moving.

It’s been a while since I seen X-Men: Orgins and T4: Salvation is it. While both movies were interesting, they both had a nice story line as well, but T4 in this case wins when it comes to continuity.

In X-Men they make it so Wolverine and Sabertooth are brothers. I do not remember that anywhere in the comics or in the previous three movies. I did like however how they put together the background process of them putting the adamantium metal into his body along from where it came from. Otherwise the movie action was fine.

X-Men Rating: 5.5 out of 10.

If you remember Bale’s rant, you would actually agree with him. While the movie was O.K. the dialog and the plot derived from the previous 3 movies played a huge part. Most of the common theme in this movie was christianity. It was very different and I think too moderized. We all loved the looks of the first 3.

T4 Rating: 6 out of 10.

Transformers 2: Wonderful!

What ever the critics say about this movie is pure crap. After watching the first Transformers to get me “caught” up in the story this movie starts off with a bang with it’s first action scene with the Autobots and the Decepticons going at it in China.

While the action was great I would though point out that they tried to fit so much story into the entire 2 hours and 45 minutes they seem to rushed the “real lines” of the movie just so they can move onto another action scene. This wasn’t totally flawed since no audience member would want a very detail explanation.

For those who liked the original Transformers movie, you will not be disapointed. I did see it in an IMAX theather, but I am sure it’s just as good on a regular screen. If you can see it in IMAX. See it! Well worth the extra $4.

I have now seen the new Star Trek movie not once, but twice. The first time I saw it in an IMAX Theater. The video and sound quality was much better than on a normal screen where I saw it a second time.

While I was never a fan of the Original Series Star Trek with William Shatter, this reboot of the series is fantastic.

Though we are now in the 21st century, the graphics, technology, and special effects allow this movie to have rich detail while still preserving the essence of Trek lore.

(If you haven’t seen the movie yet be prepared to be spoiled. Highlight to see the spoilers part.)

While the plot was excellent, this movie did introduced the most common Star Trek “paradox”: Time Travel. Bad guys come from the future… try to take out the past. Past guys figure out how to beat future guys, everything is good.

With that said the acting was the best I have ever seen in a Star Trek movie. Practically everything was the best I have ever seen in a Star Trek movie. This movie is worth seeing at least 3 times, if not more once it comes out on BluRay.
