Header is now CSS3/HTML5

Posted by Shane

I get a lot of complements on my flash header. Particularly the second by second update of the “gradient tween” that goes between that syncs up with the real time of day. So as you are reading this now, look at the header on my site (Flash enabled?). Does the time period pretty much match what is outside at the moment? It should be pretty close to what your experiencing outside.

This 24-loop header is great because you also see the stars “rise” and “set”, different seasons, and even the animated butterflies that pop out during the summer time. Overall the header is the most advanced thing that I can find on the web that does this type of animation. There is one catch to viewing this header: You have to have flash enabled and/or be on a flash compatible device. Do’h!

Full Contact Mini-Golf

Posted by Shane

This afternoon before the wedding the groom, Jon, invited us guys under the age of 30, to play mini-golf. A total of 7 people playing and it was not your typically mini-golf where you play correctly. This golf was out of control putt however many times you wanted and destroy the other person shot. It wasn’t until half way through on hole 9 that instead of playing crazy golf we did bet shots. Some where crazy and some were just plain impossible, but we had a good time doing it. The people who were behind us were really patience with us.

I have some video and will try to get it online later, but lets just say that this golf was no where close to the real thing. Oh… 2 hours till Wedding. This is going to be a fun night!

Professional WordPress

So you all that read this blog have at least some use of WordPress right? Good. That’s a start. 😉 So I knew this book was coming out and I have met two of the three people behind it: Hal Stern, David Damstra (Have not met.. I do not think) and Brad Williams.

I have note gotten it yet, but going through the pages that you can read via it’s Amazon page, I am mentioned in the acknowledgment page in Brad’s Paragraph. I feel really honored to be mentioned.

This book goes through everything you need to know to use, setup, and customize WordPress to it’s full advantage. It does not mention WordPress 3.0 and it does differentiate WordPress and WordPress MU where it is now one fork.

For those trying to make a better WordPress site this book might be for you! It’s one of many out there, but this one from the quick read that I have gotten does a pretty good job of being very through. So new… old… need a reference? Go get it or the E-Book version on Wrox (Good for those people with the iPad).
