Hijinks Ensue: Comic Cover

Hijinks Ensue: Comic Cover

I ordered Godspeed, You Fancy Basterd! from Joel Watson, the online comic I follow, and not only did it come with a book packed with the comics and extra’s, but a bumper sticker and large print of the cover which now I got to get a glass picture frame for to hang on the wall.

I got the Ultimate Fancy Limited edition of 150 copies sold, but my copy was #32. Sweet!

I got am mail on Thursday from the USnailPS that my package was on my way and that it be here today. I just got back from work… and boom… It was here! I was so excited. I looked at all the comics since he done it online, but having a hard copy is really cool and flipping through the pages makes it look real professionial.

Support him by either going to his store (http://store.hijinksensue.com/) or just check our his comic collection. Be sure to even donate to his cause as he does this full time. I know I like to do programing full time, but maybe that will happen soon. 😀

I have a 16GB flash drive that stores of course the information I need to travel around with in-case I need them. I did my wash last night and after the dryer cycle I found that I could not close the door to the dryer. The reason was because my sandisk was blocking the hinge to the door.

I was like.. Electronics with Water/Heat/Washing Detergent equals Dead. You think so. So I immediately plugged it up to any computer that I could find. And I was like.. please work. Windows was ‘Installing the Drivers’ and when it was down I was able to search and open the files just as I was before. Amazing!

These things are hardcore. I would always try to avoid this type of situation, but just to know that it has a pretty high survivability in a very intense wash cycle. I am guessing that it falling in water or getting wet is nothing now.

As a contributing developer to the WordPress code base, I find it very hard to operate now a days to get WordPress to do more functionally with keeping in mind that it was to work on at least PHP 4.3.0. Right now only 10 to 15% of the code is true object based code. Most of it having to do with quires to the database.

What is the problem with PHP 4.3.0?  PHP 4.3.0 through versions of PHP 5.2.9 is not supported anymore. This creates a number of issues in dealing with security issues. 3/4 of the worlds blogs are now WordPress. A lot of potential holes.

It’s not official yet that WordPress 3.0 be only PHP 5.3.0+. I am going to try to bring this to the developer meeting this next Thursday, July 30th, 2009.
