NYM and CitiField Visit

Posted by Shane

So today was the first time I visited CitiField, the home of the New York Mets, and let me tell you that the ball park, just like the new Yankee Stadium is impressive! A friend came along as we have had gotten two tickets. Heading to CitiField was just like going to Shea. Headed via Exit 22B and parked in the 1939 New York Worlds Fair is still the most convent route to take. read more ‘NYM and CitiField Visit

Since the Yankees are in first place in the AL East and Baltimore is in dead last, and with tonight win (84) over the Orioles lost (79) that is 163 games. Now each team plays 162 games a year. To be eliminated in the division or even the Wild Card standings if the first place team plus the other teams lost is equal or greater than 162 your chance to win the division or wild card is over.

Direct from MLB.com:

The Elimination Number for any team is determined by adding their number of losses to the number of wins for the team leading the division, and subtracting that total from 163. The Elimination Number for the second place team is the “Magic Number” for the first place team.

Elimination have started. The only other team close to being eliminated at this point is the Nationals, but other teams like the Pirates and Padres are very close as well. Most of the AL teams minus the Orioles have at least 10+ games needed before they are eliminated.

Just as I was posting this… the standings page has updated to indicate such. Hats off to the Orioles! I visited you once season!

Update 9/2/09: With the National’s lost last night, they are also now eliminated from the division officially. Most people didn’t think they had a shot anyways at the start of the season.

NYY SWEEPS BOS!

Posted by Shane

Unreal! I thought when I checked the score during the middle of the night (since I was really tired… I went to be early) I was so happy that the Yankees sweep the Sox’s here in New York that I almost feel sorry for the Red Sox’s fans. Maybe now I have a bit of confidence that NYY can beat either the Red Sox’s or LA Angels during the postseason.

With Bostons 4 straight losses they have tied themselves with Texas in the AL wild card. And Detroit right now seems to be holding onto the AL Central lead.

Post season baseball is right around the corner and I plan on posting my predictions soon! Be on the look out!

Happy Birthday To Me! :)

Posted by Shane

Just as the title says :) I have already had my birthday “party” per say.

Last night (May 2nd) I went out to dinner with my mom, sister, and very good friend of the family. We took some birthday pictures before we left. I plan on updating a few of the places were I have my photo with these since they look very cool: Facebook, About, etc. Then we went to a restaurant that I have never been to before in Bridgehampton, NY called Yamp Q. A very good Japanese Restaurant.

I myself had a serving of fried pork dumplings, shrimp tempera roll, and chicken teriyaki. Very yummy. Afterwords we went back to the house to have Angel Food cake with fruit sauce.

Next it was presents time. Minus the usual cash that is always welcomed, I got two really neat physical gifts. The first one was the DVD set of the TV show MacGyver. I have never seen an episode, but in recent years a number of gaming communities online and friends have refereed me as MacGyver since I can fix almost any problem they throw at me. The second one was a signed baseball from No. 42 of the New York Yankees. Not Reggie Jackson, but Mariano Rivera. A ‘last out’ signed balled and certificate of authenticity. Way cool! (Pictures will come later tonight!)

Another present in which I already knew about for a few weeks was a baseball game at Yankee Stadium this Thursday on May 7th.

That’s about it. Expect to come back in a few days for all the pictures!

UPDATE: The ‘About’ page has been updated to include my new photo and one that was taking on my birthday dinner. :)
