I do a lot of programming. My queue for that matter that I run for “tasks” to do has been backed up because of this vBulletin (vB) design system.

It’s not because of the code or operation, but the way that it is designed. In WordPress we strive to have a great UI and UX team to be able to see the pitfalls of usability before we release WordPress to the masses. vBulletin is not free, so you/I expect a few things including this kind of testing.

Some of the aggravations I been having:

Information/Settings is all over the place.

Documentation/Help System – No where near complete. Some of the StyleVars have do description of what they change.

No “Live” Preview.

Not everything is in the StyleVar system to begin with.

After “7 days” of working on a new design (It has taken me more time in reality, but this time does not include all the interruptions I had, or travel or work, etc.) I have final come to the conclusion that after finishing my new vBulletin theme that the AdminCP which has been the same since vBulletin 3.x does not work for vBulletin 4.x.

One of my friends that is part of the vBulletin community has always asked if I was going to take on the task of redoing the AdminCP area, and I am seriously thinking about it now since vBulletin 4.x AdminCP system sucks. I would do this after I empty my queue.

I watched G.I. Joe last night. I liked it a lot, but the film could have used better acting. A lot of the lines were cookie cut from the comics which are good for comics. Not movies since they are supposed to be free-following dialog between the characters.

Dennis Quad, who plays General Hawk, lines where very “stale” and had no “meaning” to them. Other than that the movie was good. The cinematography seems like it was also not fluid. Now like every comic movie, the movie did set it self up for more squeals, but the overall film could have been done better.

Oh yeah. The women in this movie were just HOT! Rachel Nichols and Sienna Miller can come haunt me anytime.

Rating: 7 out of 10. / Women Rating: Off the charts!

So I just finished watching James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace. I have to say I am loving this new style of Bond movies that star Daniel Craig.

This movie has it all the usual refinements.

Girls: Check

Cars: Check

Guns: Check

Action: Check

Tech: Semi-Check

The only real tech in this movie was from while we were inside MI6. Something we haven’t seen really much of in the previous bond movies. Q is sadly missing from this movie, however, I don’t know how he could have provided support to Bond in this movie.

Other than that, this movie was really well done!

Rating: 8.5 out of 10 stars.

WOW!

I just played the demo, and while the first time around I was stupid enough to leave alone my teammates, I learned the next time that this is a game that you can not go out on your own. The demo only includes two levels of one map and with the 20+ maps that are coming out with the game in less than a week, I can expect more fun!

Right now the game has several plaguing problems. Most noticibly with the server matching problems and people trying to play together as a group. Also if you are on a windows machine, you can not run a dedicated server and play the game at the same time.

Attached is the only thing that I can get for now. It is a poster of the “map” as you join it. If you think about the modding possibilities with this game, they are endless. There are plenty of screenshots and video of the game in action on the biggest fan website including the official trailer for the game. The offical review of this game will come out once the game is released. This is just a preview. expect a much fuller review then!

I spent the better part of the day today in NYC with my sister. As I said in my previous post, I went to the Yankee game today.

The day game of the double header because of the rain postponement yesterday canceled that game. My sister has some great nosebleed seats and you can see the field great. The game was a problem. The Yankees lost 7 to 1 getting the only run in the bottom of the 9th inning. And this was against the Tampa Bay Rays! (Though.. we are in 4th place and they are in 1st. Go figure.) They Yankees did win the night cap, but I was already back home by the time the game ended.

After the game we went out to dinner to a Mexican restaurant on 81st and 2nd ave called Blockheads. I give this place 4 thumbs up. I had the chicken casadias, large portion, and gobbled it quickly.

I have pictures, that is, I have to wait for them from my sister. That’s about it! I’ll be heading back down to VA Monday night to get the rest of my stuff. I have more good news that I will post up Monday.

My mom and her boyfriend came down to the area for the weekend (more like 6 days) and we have setup quite an itinerary for their stay. So today was a basic day. I do have pictures and I will post them once I can get the pictures off my device. (One disadvantage of having Windows Vista.)

We did some shopping in the “morning” (11am-ish to about 2pm). Had lunch at California Pizza Kitchen. After a light lunch, we went go get my hair cut. My mom can not stand my hair long at all. Even though I think it is very short. After meeting up with mom’s boyfriend in the mall, we headed back to my place to drop off my car (which was stupid since we should have left it at the subway station) and headed to their hotel, the Mandarin Oriental.

This being my first time in this hotel I was very impressed with it’s beauty. We had a very small snack in the very exclusive Tai Pan Club. After they both changed into walking around cloths, we ventured outside, waking to our primary event of the day, the Washington Monument.

Now, my mom’s boyfriend, has not been to D.C. for a very long time so we plan on doing lots of memorial touring. It will be nice nice weather and combine that with not that many tourists it’s going to be a great way to view the sights.

WWII Memorial

We had tickets to go up the Monument for the 7:30, so we had about an hour to kill. We first headed to visit the WWII memorial on the mall, between the Monument and Abraham Lincoln memorial. This being my second time seeing the memorial it was less crowded the first time I went in last year. I got some shots of the memorial itself and mom and her boyfriend. We relaxed there for about 30 minutes. It was very cool there with the water flowing out of the main pool of the memorial. We then took a stroll to the Monument through the mall stopping along the way to watch some of the softball and kickball games along the way. We even stopped by a tree and took some pictures with the Monument behind us.

We got the Washington Monument just in time for our time to enter. The US Park Ranger who was on duty today was very funny as we waited to go through security. After that, a quick ride up 500 feet, we were up the top taking in the sights. For the sun was going to set around 8pm, we had some good shots of the 4 directions during this phase. I got great shots of the Sun, honest Abe, Jefferson, National Airport, US Capital, and the White House. I got some of the shots of my favorite buildings as well. I will be sure to point those out as well! One thing we noticed is that with the money being directed towards the war effort, the budget to keep the grounds beautiful was non-exist and the Washington Mall was in complete disgust. I realized that they were not watering the grass (except around the White House), but I didn’t know really how bad it was until I got to the top of the Monument and looked around. Decided for yourself when I post the pictures up. I posted up some pictures of the view from atop. After watching the sun completely set, we headed down and we got even some more great shots of the sunset skyline.

After that we hailed a cab that was nearby and headed for ESPN Zone in Washington D.C. to watch some of the Olympics and baseball games. Now I been to ESPN Zone with a few friends in New York City, and if the staff of this ESPN Zone was part of the NYC restaurant, the ESPN Zone would go out of business. The waitress we had was just bad. She never attended us when our drinks were low and the chicken in our food was crap. After that we headed down to play some arcade games. The games were fun, but they were so outdated compared to the ones in NYC that it was like boring. The best game was the Daytona 500 VR racer and maybe table hockey. If you are planing on visiting this ESPN Zone — avoid it like the plauge!

And that was it. Took a taxi from their hotel back to my apartment in Virgina. It was a good day. Tommorrow we go back out and I plan on having another day of fun!

Myself being an avid X-Files Fan, I went to see the movie this past Friday (again at midnight) and I was hoping to be pleased. Turns out I was not. They did not play play off the mythology of the original show, which was a key success. I believe the script was poor and that they didn’t really connect with the fans of the show. If I was the script writer, I would have made some major changes to the story. Unlike The Dark Knight, I suggest you wait for it to come out on DVD. This one is clearly a movie that you can watch in bed and still understand what goes on even if you fall asleep during the film.

If anything, I rather watch Season 9 of X-Files than this movie again.

Rating: 5 out of 10

I saw The Dark Knight (IMDb) on opening “early morning” at midnight (12:01am) and I have already seen it a second time. I plan on seeing it at least one more time at an IMAX theater. I was very bit impressed with with Heath Ledger performance of one of my favorite villains.

When ever I watch Batman on television, all other villains just bore because they are mundane and have no fun. The Joker is crazy and funny at the same time. Jack Nickolson’s performance of the Joker in the original Batman film was good at the time. But this performance of Heath’s is just amazing. Not only does he capture the meaning and style of the Joker, he really does become one with the character. Along with that, Nolan used an IMAX camera for the four action scenes that are in the film.

When it comes to characters in the new series of Batman movies directed by Christopher Nolan, everyone has played their role successfully that you believe that the characters are real people. I think the only exception to the fact was Katie Homes version of Rachel Dawes in Batman Begins.

The full review is below… and if you have not seen this movie do not read it yet. It is worth to see the movie without any knowledge of what happens.

The first sequence of the movie I saw during the I Am Legend IMAX opening at the IMAX theater. It was a majestic bank robbery scene, were in the open sequence you see the Joker and his croonies hit a mob bank.

As the robbery goes on – in classic sequence – we get to see how he plans these crazy heists, even down to to taking out his own croonies. We even get to see William Fichtner play the bank manager take out one croonie. In the end, he is gassed to death by the Joker.

Next we open up to a small action sequence were we see our hero for the first time of the movie taking out the return of the Scarecrow (which was really cool cameo) and some “Batman Copycats”. Next we learn the Wayne Manor has yet to be rebuilt so we come to an underground cavern and learn that Fox (Morgon Freeman) fully knows Bruce is Batman.

Our first glimpse to Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) and his famous coin come into play in the court room trying to put away the new drug kingpin. Things get out of hand and we move right along in the movie with Gordon and Dent, taking about the Batman “unofficial” status. They even go off on the Batman floodlight. Etc. happens and we get to see a nice dinner between Bruce, Rachel, and Dent at Bruce restaurant.

Next part is a mob meeting. Were we see the mob meet as discusses certain things. This is the scene in which we get full glimpse to Heath as the Joker as he interrupts the meeting with an idea to “Kill the Batman”. He wants “half” of the entire mob fortune. Gamble gets really pissed off and in classic Joker style the Joker makes it really impossible for them to kill him and hands him a Joker card as his “business card”. Gamble even puts a bounty of the Joker: $500,000 – dead, $1,000,000 – alive.
