Leaving Best Buy

Posted by Shane

This one is real short. I am leaving Best Buy for greater pastures to pursue my ever growing career in Network Engineering. Best Buy has given three years of tremendous support. I have no problems with the company and I am grateful for everything they have done for me and more.

Bose Quiet Headsets

Posted by Shane

I had gotten these because my old Sony headsets died. Yesterday was the first time I used them on a plane. It was great. While I was still able to talk to my fellow passengers, I didn’t hear the noise of the jets engines changing sounds or the other weird noises the plane makes when flying. So totally worth the price I paid for them. They didn’t work so well on the bus as they claim, but they were OK. For those who travel, get these as you’ll experience a whole new level of comfort.

The project that I been working on for over a year with the Best Buy Retail Web Development team has finally finished. I completed the project yesterday in-fact at 3pm right before I had to head for the airport and board a plane back for NY. I had spent over 60+ hours for the past 4 weeks getting the projected finalized and working into a state that it can be used for the company in whole. I have in the past created “websites”, but this website project was no ordinary project. Minus the ExtJS framework that I used for the administration side, I did however write all the Javascript, PHP5 code, and HTML code used for the site in order for it to work. In the end there was more than 12,000 lines of code from start to finish and over 100+ images (mostly icons) used for the site in order to convey what the team wanted in the end.

So I am a little paranoid. Everyone has the right to be and depending on the content of the messages and the sensitivity of the message you may want to encrypt them so they are secure and only your designated receipt is allowed to read them. So this little tutorial that I am putting together will help you get started on your “digital signature” so your messages either over email or IM are protected from unwanted eyes.

This tutorial should be good for both Unix, Windows, and Apple user’s although I am writing this as if you were a Windows user. read more ‘Need Encryption in your Life?

Been Gaming

While I been back from Minnesota, I have played as many games as I could because my laptop doesn’t have the power to run the high-end games that I been wanting to play or finish, but if and when I return to Minnesota I will have a few games that I can play on my laptop while I am traveling about the country working. read more ‘Been Gaming
