Shoutcast Radio, Music

Posted by Shane

While I am doing things on my computer, that doesn’t involve gaming, but requires some stimuli, I turn on my favorite shout cast radio station. That would be XRM Radio based in Dallas, Texas. The station is designed around the format of user’s who like the classic alternative and rock n’ roll music of the 80’s and 90’s. There are very few “newer” songs on the master play list, but the users of the site vote on the new songs to be added.

I myself have an extensive “favorite” list of music that I could request, but sometimes I don’t need to since most of the music selected to play by most users and the system I enjoy. In my previous post about satellite radio, I said that would be my preferred way of getting music while I am out and about.

Firefox > IE

I know this issue is pretty much settled, but I just like to say the IE is the worst browser ever. It can’t even run a simple flash program correctly!

Otherwise you might get punched in the face.

If you dont want to get punched, dont try to scare someone.

If you don't want to get punched, don't try to scare someone.

Otherwise this is pretty funny! Tops to Elie for pointing this out!

Update: The image seem to be corrupted now. Oh well…

Anthrax mailer dead

Posted by Shane

Years after the 2001 Anthrax attacks, directly after 9/11, the suspect apparently committed suicide today on Frederick, Maryland. If the full FBI facts come out in a few days, this case will quietly go away.

Wikipedia and CNN have tons of information on this subject. Check out both places for sources as the information is just coming out now.

Holiday/Event Header Sets

One of the things I like doing for my websites is making them holidayed (this is a made up word!). So I had one created once before, so I brought those over to my this header. Right now I have these holiday’s created:

  • Christmas
  • Valentine’s Day
  • Halloween

To view them go to the next page.

Manny to LAD,NL

Manny was tradded to LAD

Baseballs most “mean” hitter left the AL today being traded from Red Sox to the Dodgers. There was reports before this new development, that he was a possibly be traded to the Mets. However, I doubt this will Manny’s last time in the AL. He becomes a free agent in the winter and could be picked up any number of teams.

At least my Yankees doesn’t have to face him for the rest of the year, unless it’s in the World Series. I wonder what this will do the Red Sox’s lineup since Manny was a powerful bat in the lineup.

Only time will tell.

As most of you know, I am heavily involved with the Battlestar Wiki Project (which is part of FrakMedia! Productions) and we done a lot of work on the English wiki were we detailed almost every aspect of every detail of all the shows, events, characters, etc. in the wiki. The only new information I am seeing recently is from current episodes.

In any case, we link to episode pages a lot to satisfy a number of “mandated” conventions: cite, cross-referencing, etc. Usually inside a template we have to code it the long way out if there was multiple times that we had to refer to different episodes.

| sometemplatevar = [[33]]<br/>[[The Hand of God (RDM)|The Hand of God]]

Always a very unpleasant thing to do. So we were working on a new sub-wiki called “Battlestar Props” which is going to be a central repository on the props used in the show. One of people I work with suggested that we able to input into a template the production numbers of the episode(s) (eg. 101, 110) to render the links for us. I thought that was a great idea. So… the Episode parser was born!
